A historical look at women & power

I’m reading Women & Power by Mary Beard and it really is the perfect read for Women’s History Month. Here’s what I love about it:

• It’s a slim read at just 128 pages so if it won’t take you long to get through this powerful manifesto

• Mary Beard gets straight to the heart of how women were historically represented in theater and writing. It may not seem like a big deal but when I read it I had an aha moment and I bet you will, too. Mary Beard helped me realize that the way we’ve been represented in the past reveals why we’re still struggling to find ourselves in leadership and power positions and still be women, even today. As she puts it, “If women aren’t perceived to be within the structure of power, isn’t it power itself we need to redefine?”
